Adventures

School of Fish Guide Service can provide guided outings for any fish species in Nova Scotia, working with the client to provide the best opportunity to be successful in meeting your goals. Trips are always very dependant on weather and existing conditions (like high or low water) but we will always communicate any concerns prior to the trip and be flexible with all outings.

School of Fish uses a Crestliner CX1754 Bass Boat with 90HP Mariner 2 Stroke for those outings requiring a boat. This boat seats up to 4 people and comfortably holds 3 people for fishing (plus guide).

The following trips are guidelines only, School of Fish can provide these outings, but should be considered an example of the multitude of adventures available to clients.

Northumberland Stripers: Striped bass on the Northumberland strait do not have the size of their cousins on the Bay of Fundy, but there is nothing more exciting than catching stripers on bass gear and swimbaits casting from shore or while wading.
Ice Fishing:
Nova Scotia stocks a number of small lakes and ponds with rainbow trout that provide a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy the outdoors in winter. School of Fish has all the gear to keep safe and warm for ice fishing including family sized huts with heaters.
Take Kids Fishing:
Kids often don’t have the patience for extended outings, unless the fish are biting. Smallmouth bass are excellent targets for kids to learn the basics of fishing techniques while also providing a challenge for their parents.
Fishing Derbies:
Smallmouth Bass Tournaments are available throughout the open water months. If you’ve ever wanted to challenge yourself against the best in the province, or even just wanted to challenge yourself to a tournament style smallmouth bass outing, bring your A-game and prepare for a long day of casting.
Brook Trout:
Countless rivers and streams wind through Nova Scotia. Fly fishing or spin casting, wet wading a stream for local resident brook trout will put you in some glorious areas of the province chasing some glorious trout.
Freshwater Stripers:
Starting in the fall, striped bass will move up from the Bay of Fundy to overwinter in the fresh water of Grand Lake. Weather plays a huge factor in the late fall, but right up until ice up these freshwater stripers can be targeted by trolling and casting crankbaits and swimbaits at large schools of active fish.
